Exalt His Name Today
But King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which the Syrians had inflicted on him when he fought with Hazael king of Syria.) And Jehu said, “If you are so minded, let no one leave or escape from the city to go and tell it in Jezreel.” II Kings 9:15
You’ve heard to old adage, “Time heals old wounds.” Well that may be true in some cases, but for the most part, we have to take a proactive stance in our own personal healing and not leave it up to chance. Sometimes, we need more than time; we need to address our wounds head on and deal honestly with the reasons they are still with us.
One morning I had prayed and asked God to heal the hidden sins of my heart. This was a sincere prayer and one I had not asked of before. I had enough going on in my life at that time to just deal with the issues of the day. However, God had another plan.
I was in my kitchen mid-morning and a very painful thought came to mind of an incident of the past. A little later, I had thought of another very painful comment that was made by a family member years before. It just popped into my head. Then, a third memory of a very deep hurt I had experienced in my marriage came to mind. I cried out, “God, what is going on here?” I had not felt so bad in years. He said, “Robin, You asked Me for this.” Sobbing before the Lord, my knees hit the floor. I begged God to forgive me for the issues I had held on to and so carefully covered up.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
Please expose to me, the hidden sins of my own heart. Help me to walk free of all those offenses I have so carefully covered up. Help me to uproot those wicked and ungodly thoughts and feelings and release those I have been angry or bitter towards. Cleanse me today Father, from all the things I have chosen to hold against others and I confess these things as sin. In Jesus Name, I pray, Amen.
